Roughly 50 automobiles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Vehicles, walls and postal boxes were marked, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they announced in a statement.
Law enforcement say they were contacted during the night on Wednesday night, when a individual discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued substance.
The substance had been applied in the pattern of a banned symbol, they reported.
Officers then discovered numerous other smeared vehicles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under legislation banning the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Police state initial examinations indicate the fluid was likely blood from a person.
"At present there remains no indication as to its source; authorities are currently not aware of any injuries in connection with the occurrence," they commented.
Local authorities said they were working "to unravel the incident" and have appealed to the public for tips.
An important representative commented the incident left him without words and needed to be solved rapidly.
"This act affects the center of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the right-wing attack five years ago," he wrote on social media, mentioning the murder of nine individuals by a gunman aiming at residents of immigrant origin in 2020.
