World Series Final Game Captures Over 50 Million Audience Members In the US, Canada and Japanese Regions.

The exciting extended matchup where the Dodgers defeat the Toronto Blue Jays by one run drew a combined over 50 million viewers in the United States, Canadian, and Japanese markets. MLB stated this represents the most-watched World Series Game 7 after the 1991 contest featuring the Twins and Braves.

Broadcast Viewership Details

Last Saturday’s memorable contest secured 27.33M viewers on Fox Sports networks, Fox Deportes and Fox’s streaming platforms. Per ratings data, it was the second most-watched program of the week.

It also is the most-watched Fall Classic matchup after the 2017 final game involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Astros, which drew over 29 million. This marks a 16% improvement compared to the last finale between the Nationals and Astros, which drew 23.19M.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game placed fourth, Game 4 was 7th, the fifth game was 8th, and the third game finished in thirteenth position.

International Audience Numbers

In the Canadian market, the game averaged over 11 million watchers on Sportsnet and the French TVA Sports. This was the highest-rated English-language program in the country since the 2010 edition Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the deciding game began at 9 p.m. in the local time zone, it attracted 12 million. This came after the previous Friday’s Game 6 – in which Fall Classic Most Valuable Player Yamamoto allowed a single run in six innings – averaged 13.1M viewers, making it the highest-rated Fall Classic game on a single network in Japan.

Overall Averages and Patterns

The full seven-match World Series averaged 15.71 million audience members on Fox, a two percent increase from last year’s Dodgers versus Yankees matchup. This marks the initial instance since 2015 and ‘16 that the Fall Classic has seen viewership increases for two consecutive seasons.

Including the opening game telecast on Univision, the complete American average was 16.1M. The total Fall Classic viewership in Japan was 9.7M and 8.1M in the Canadian market.

The complete MLB Postseason on Fox, FS1 and FS2 drew 8.09 million viewers, an eight percent rise over the previous year and Fox’s best postseason ratings since the 2017 season.

MLB stated that the Fall Classic was televised in 203 nations and regions by forty-four media partners in 16 different tongues.
